ADUST LENGTH TO 15" for someone special! A beautiful vintage, gold filled locket with its original paste and a floral design is suspended from a pavé diamond clasp in sterling silver and a hand knotted chain of black spinel rondelles. The locket's design is Art Nouveau and is hallmarked RBM.
This beautiful locket was manufactured by the R.B. MacDonald company, from Attleboro, MA (the jewelry capital of the US at the time). Founded in 1874, the company remained in business until 1924 and manufactured a variety of jewelry, including baby pins, bracelets, brooches, and charms, and lockets. This particular locket is from their "Beatrice" line, which was named after the owner's daughter. Inside these lockets is an adorable hallmark: RBM on top of a little bee, with the letters "ATRICE" beneath. Put this little rebus puzzle together and you get "BEATRICE", how sweet is that?
The locket is in wonderful vintage condition, with no wear to the front, but some minor wear to the back, which is shown in the final photo. The locket closes with a satisfying click and the back of the locket is free of any monograms, which is unusual to find. The interior has space for two photos, but there are no covers.
The locket is removable from the necklace and the necklace can be worn with other pieces in your collection.
