This beautiful locket was manufactured by the R.B. MacDonald company, from Attleboro, MA (the jewelry capital of the US at the time). Founded in 1874, the company remained in business until 1924 and manufactured a variety of jewelry, including baby pins, bracelets, brooches, and charms, and lockets. This particular locket is from their "Beatrice" line, which was named after the owner's daughter. Inside these lockets is an adorable hallmark: RBM on top of a little bee, with the letters "ATRICE" beneath. Put this little rebus puzzle together and you get "BEATRICE", how sweet is that?
This locket is in excellent vintage condition, with no scratches to the surface or monogram on the back. The red and clear pastes are vibrant and the locket snaps closed securely. The interior still contains the original frames, but the celluloid covers are no longer there (easily replaced with plastic from a craft store). The locket measures a substantial 35mm and is suspended from a hand fabricated chain of faceted garnet rondelles. (18 1/2") All metal used is gold filled.
This is a beautiful piece for the holiday season and garnet lovers alike! Wear it now, and wear it all year long. A true treasure from the past, and one of a kind!
Your locket will ship with tracking and will be packaged in a lovely gift box.
