This beautiful locket was manufactured by the R.B. MacDonald company, from Attleboro, MA (the jewelry capital of the US at the time). Founded in 1874, the company remained in business until 1924 and manufactured a variety of jewelry, including baby pins, bracelets, brooches, and charms, and lockets.
This locket is in very good vintage condition, with no scratches to the surface on the front, and slight discoloration and marks on the reverse. The back is free of a monogram, so you can have it engraved if you choose. The red and clear pastes are beautiful, with some darkening of two of the clear pastes. The locket snaps closed securely and the interior still contains the original frames, with the original celluloid covers. The locket measures a 24mm and is suspended from a hand fabricated chain and bale of faceted garnet rondelles. The chain measures 17" and the locket has a 1 ¾” drop.
This is a beautiful piece for the holiday season and garnet lovers alike! Wear it now, and wear it all year long.
One of a kind.
