This beautiful locket was manufactured by the R.B. MacDonald company, from Attleboro, MA (the jewelry capital of the US at the time). Founded in 1874, the company remained in business until 1924 and manufactured a variety of jewelry, including baby pins, bracelets, brooches, and charms, and lockets. This particular locket is from their "Beatrice" line, which was named after the owner's daughter. Inside these lockets is an adorable hallmark: RBM on top of a little bee, with the letters "ATRICE" beneath. Put this little rebus puzzle together and you get "BEATRICE", how sweet is that?
This locket is in excellent vintage condition, with no scratches to the surface on the front, and the faintest of marks on the reverse. The back is free of a monogram, so you can have it engraved if you choose. The red and clear pastes are beautiful and bright. The locket snaps closed securely and the interior still contains the original frames, with the original celluloid covers. The locket measures a 22mm and is suspended from a hand fabricated chain of faceted garnet rondelles. The chain measures 17 ½” and all metal used is gold filled.
This is a beautiful piece for the holiday season and garnet lovers alike! Wear it now, and wear it all year long. A true treasure from the past, and one of a kind!
Your locket will ship with tracking and will be packaged in a lovely gift box.
