A beautiful, French antique heart locket, with a mistletoe motif. Most of us associate mistletoe with the holiday season and stealing a kiss underneath it. While this is certainly one meaning of mistletoe, there’s actually more symbolism to this plant. During the time this pendant was made, WWI was going on, and mistletoe was associated with good luck. Since France recognizes the plant as a good luck symbol, they incorporated it not only in their Art Nouveau jewelry pieces and art, but in postcards to celebrate the New Year. In this way, mistletoe was often used to wish people a lucky and successful New Year!
This one of a kind necklace was created by wire wrapping garnets, pink topaz, and rainbow moonstone, using 14kt gold filled wire. The locket clips to an antique style Albert chain clasp and is detachable. There is a small gold filled lobster claw in the back for easy on and off.
