Owyhee opals are found in the United States in Owyhee, Oregon, around the Owyhee mountain range on the Oregon-Idaho border and the Owyhee River.
Considered a "common opal" since it does not exhibit color play, there is nothing common about this beautiful blue stone! Typically a sky blue, the stone is opaque and sometimes has white banding. This strand of faceted beads was selected for the generous size of the rondelles, as well as their beautiful color and faceting. Natural gemstones are beautiful and often exhibit inclusions. This helps to identify that the stone is genuine. These beads have a few stones exhibiting white banding and a few stones with black markings and by no means detracts from the beauty of the necklace.
