Smooth polished Ethiopian opals are hand knotted on lilac silk for a beautiful drape when worn. These opals are a graduated strand, with generously sized stones, with the largest in the front.
The stones measure 6-7mm in size, but are mainly 6mm throughout the strand, with the larger size 7mm stones in the center as a focal point.
Necklace measures approximately 16.5" and is finished with a solid 14k gold lobster claw clasp.
For reference, this necklace is the one shown on the RIGHT in the second photo and shown worn in the final photo.
Ethiopian Opal Care:
Ethiopian opal is hydrophane (from the Greek meaning “water loving”) and absorbs liquids, much like a sponge would do. Because of this, the stone can absorb liquids that will damage its color properties; any water it absorbs should dry in a day or two without damaging the stone, but it is recommended that you do not wear your Ethiopian opal jewelry while bathing, or swimming, and avoid submerging them in water. Be aware that oils, soaps and chemicals (including perfumes), if absorbed, may stain the stone, changing its color or damaging its signature play of light. Clean the stone with a soft cloth. Never clean using soap, chemicals, oil, steam or ultrasonics.
With proper care, you should enjoy the beauty of this necklace for years to come.
