A beautiful, French antique heart pendant, with a mistletoe motif. Please note: this is NOT a locket, although it is in the locket section of the website for easy navigation.
Most of us associate mistletoe with the holidays, and enjoying a kiss underneath. While this is certainly one meaning of mistletoe, there’s actually more symbolism to this plant. During the time this pendant was made, WWI was going on, and mistletoe was associated with good luck. Since France recognizes the plant as a good luck symbol, they incorporated it not only in their Art Nouveau jewelry pieces and art, but in postcards to celebrate the New Year. In this way, mistletoe was often used to wish people a lucky and successful New Year! For this very special piece, which I hope will bring the wearer good luck, I’ve incorporated romantic colors of purple and pink. Freshwater pearls, pink and rich purple amethyst, and pink tourmaline have been wire wrapped using 14kt gold filled wire to create this one of a kind chain.
There is a gold filled lobster claw clasp at the back for ease of use, and the antique style swivel clasp allows for the heart pendant to be removed and worn with other pendants.
