A lovely vintage swallow locket is attached to a hand knotted chain of shimmering peacock keshi pearls. The pearls are hand knotted on teal colored thread, and finished with a gold filled lobster clasp and extender chain to make the length adjustable. A single Sleeping Beauty turquoise rondelle dangles from the extender chain.
Swallows mate for life, and are also considered symbolic for love, loyalty and good luck. Sailors always viewed them as a sign for a safe journey home and a successful voyage.
The locket opens and closes securely, and there are two places for photos (please note that there are no covers present for the photos). A quick cleaning was given to the locket, but there is still plenty of patina on the piece. I left it to the buyers discretion if they wanted to polish it more, or leave it as-is.
