A lovely antique French locket (24mm) is filled with white topaz and freshwater pearls to create this one of a kind shake it locket. The stones move freely within the glass, so you will never have the same look twice!
In the early 19th century, a young Parisian jeweler invented a process of applying a thick layer of 18kt or 14kt gold foil over brass to create jewelry that mimicked solid gold. The process was so good that the pieces done using this technique are often mistaken for solid gold. Due to the thick layer of gold used, the pieces have withstood the test of time, and these lockets from this particular designer rarely show signs of wear to the metal.
The frame of the locket exhibits a classic Louis XVI ribbon and reed motif, which is another beautiful detail to this piece. Each of the lockets I carry in my shop have been selected for their originality, beauty and history, and I source them from some of my favorite antique dealers whom I trust. Similarly, the gemstones I source come from a couple of different reputable dealers, and they are of gem quality that will not disappoint.
To give the piece a modern look, my signature hand crafted chain of 14kt gold fill is accented with freshwater pearls and crystal quartz. The chain measures 18" in length, and closes with a lobster claw clasp.
This is an artisan piece, carefully thought out from the beginning design concept, to sourcing the best materials, to combining colors and texture, to the very end, where the piece is photographed and shipped in a signature 'Bijou Babe' box.
