An antique French locket filled with white topaz and a tourmaline slice, are captured between original glass panels. The locket features an 18 carat gold filled frame, with a traditional 'ribbon and reed' French design on the bezel. In the early 19th century, a young Parisian jeweler invented a process of applying a thick layer of 18kt or 14kt gold foil over brass to create jewelry that mimicked solid gold. The process was so good that the pieces done using this technique are often mistaken for solid gold. In addition, due to the thick layer of gold used, the pieces have withstood the test of time.
My signature gemstone accented chain accompanies this piece: micro faceted white topaz rondelles along with a thick slice of watermelon tourmaline. The chain is 14kt gold filled, with a lobster claw clasp finishing the ends. Layaway is available on this piece, please inquire for terms.
