An antique, gold filled locket from the early 1900's has a beautiful fleur de lis design decorated in sparkling paste (high quality, hand cut leaded glass which was used in place of gemstones). While most of the paste has darkened with age, they are all still present and beautiful. Simple and elegant, the locket features clean lines, with the fleur de lis taking center stage. The interior reveals the hallmark for a popular manufacturer of lockets during this time period, Wightman & Hough Co. from Providence, R.I. An advertisement from November 1, 1910 reads,
"An Indication of Refinement and Good Taste"
"Nothing more appropriate for the birthday, wedding or holiday gift."
"Always so endearing to the possessor because of the precious mementos or photos which it preserves."
"There's a heart in every locket." -from advertisement dated September 1, 1910
