One of the latest lockets in my “Language of Flowers” 🌸 series, this locket is a French antique piece, with a beautiful ribbon and reed motif on the bezel, and original, faceted glass on both sides. Inside the front panel, a new digital print of Victorian style flower has been added. Suspended from my hand oxidized, sterling silver chain to highlight this patinaed silver locket (some of the silver is still bright, but the crevices are dark), and add a bit of an edge to an otherwise feminine and delicate piece, the locket also has a freshwater Edison pearl "charm" to complement the colors found in the digital print. The last photo shows some of the other lockets available in this most recent collection. Please note that this listing is for ONE locket only, not all three.
A little history about "Floriography", also known as "The Language of Flowers". The Victorians had a special meaning for each flower, a sort of “secret code”. Proper etiquette during Victorian times prohibited many behaviors we take for granted today (flirtations, conversations, etc), so flowers were used to convey messages in secret. Romantic? Yes! Although, those sneaky Victorians also used floriography to send negative messages, too! 😉
